Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan
The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. by Supervisor Chuck Korn and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – Russ Noble and Tiffany Creamer commented on the Oakleaf Village project.
- Approved the Agenda as presented.
- Approved Minutes from June 23, 2020, as presented.
- Waived Blood Law’s conflict of interest. Removed item b . Bills from the Consent Calendar and approved the amended Consent Calendar.
- Discussed item b. and approved Bills from General Fund.
- Received Sheriff’s Report from Lt. Chris Oosse.
- Received the County Commissioner’s Report from Brad Jewett.
- Received the Planning Department’s Report from John Sych.
- Received the Clerk’s Report from Lanie McManus
- Received the Supervisor’s Report from Chuck Korn.
- Approved the Township Board Strategic Plan – Amendment.
- Chris Post spoke at the public hearing for 3479 Veterans Drive C-O Rezoning. Board approved Resolution 2020-13-T, a resolution adopting Amendment No. 24 to Zoning Ordinance 68, rezoning Parcel No. 05-016-038-00 at 3479 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan, from R-1 One-Family Residential to C-O Office Commercial.
- Vickie Keegstra spoke at the Public Hearing on Village at LaFranier Woods. Board approved Application PUD 2019-01 submitted by R.W. Properties I LLC for the Village at LaFranier Woods.
- Approved Resolution 2020-14-T, a resolution of intent to participate in the Redevelopment Ready Communities program.
- Approved scheduling a public hearing on July 28, 2020 Garfield Township Board Meeting for the Property Maintenance Ordinance No. 55 proposed amendment.
- Approved allowing property owner at 1420 Randolf St. pursue sewer extension at landowner’s cost.
- Public Comment – Keef Morgan, property owner of 1420 Randolf Street, commended Jennifer Hodges of Gourdie-Fraser for her help in presenting his formal request to the Township Board.
- Other Business –
- The matter about the injured biker in the Commons is on GT Metro’s meeting agenda.
- Getting bids on the Clerk’s counter expansion.
