Deputy Director of Planning position
The Charter Township of Garfield is accepting applications for a Deputy Director of Planning. As a member of the Township Planning & Development team, primarily you will perform professional work in the fields of current and long range planning; evaluate or assist in the evaluation of all forms of development applications; assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices to accomplish planning objectives; assist with planning studies, new and updated plans; and, coordinate and manage the Township Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Township Parks and Recreation program. Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in urban planning, environmental studies, public administration, or closely related field, and two years of professional planning experience. Two years of technical experience in GIS or completion of advanced GIS coursework is also required. Membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desired within one year of the date of hire. Great work environment with four-day week and flex time for evening meetings. Salary Range: $49,605 to $58,605 to start depending on qualifications, plus excellent fringes. Open until filled. First interviews will be given to resumes submitted by March 21, 2019.

NO CHARGE YARD WASTE PASS FOR SPRING
Valid April 6 through May 30
Soon it will be time to wake up your garden tools from winter hibernation and take a weekend to make your yard spring-ready. To help you with this task, Garfield Township residents can pick up a no charge yard waste pass at the Township Hall during regular business hours. The pass is good for one trip with a load of up to 3 cubic yards of acceptable material brought to the GT County Keystone Brush Drop-off Site located at 2471 N. Keystone Rd. Acceptable material for this pass includes brush, branches (up to 12 inches in diameter), leaves, and grass clippings.
The 2019 season opens on Saturday, April 6, and the new days and hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - open 10 am – 4:30 pm, and Saturday - open 9 am – 3:30 pm. You may also visit the GT County Recycle Smart website for more information.
