Synopsis of Minutes of March 26, 2019
Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – Alisa Korn spoke regarding the Fireworks Ordinance amendment.
- Added Metro Discussion as Item b. under Unfinished Business and approved the Agenda as amended.
- Approved Minutes from March 12, 2019 Township Board meeting.
- Remove item 3.b. Bills from the Consent Calendar and approved the Consent Calendar as amended.
- After discussion regarding the ESS Kiosks, approved the General Fund bills.
- Received the Construction report from GFA Jennifer Hodges.
- Received the Assessor’s report from Amy DeHaan.
- Received Metro Fire report from Steve Apostle.
- Received the Northflight report from Tim Newton.
- Received the County Commissioner”s report from Bryce Hundley
- Received the Supervisor’s report from Chuck Korn.
- Held a Public Hearing and approved a Ordinance # 73, a Special Local Watercraft Control Ordinance for Silver Lake, WC-28-18-001-Slow-no wake speed.
- Discussed recent Metro Fire Board meetings and expectations for Wednesday’s meeting.
- Voted to not support that Michigan townships to have the option of holding township board member elections on the nonpartisan ballot.
- Approved getting a cost estimate from the County Road Commission to repair Meadow Lane Drive.
- Introduced and scheduled a public hearing for April 23rd on Ordinance No. 74, an ordinance to prohibit marihuana establishments within the Township.
- Introduced and scheduled a public hearing for April 23rd on a proposed amendment to Ordinance No. 67, amending the Consumer Fireworks Ordinance.
- Awarded a contract to replace some flooring at the Township office to Northern Floor & Tile Service not to exceed $6,500.
