Synopsis of Minutes of October 9, 2018
Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall,
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – Matt Cowell of the Joint Recreational Authority spoke about upcoming visioning meetings
- Duell added an item to new business regarding a noise study for car washes in Garfield Township. Schmuckal added an item under Personnel Committee Report regarding the appointment of Erik Perdonik as Acting Planning Director. The Amended Agenda was approved.
- Approved Minutes from September 25, 2018 Township Board Meeting.
- Removed item d. from the Consent Calendar and approved the amended Consent Calendar.
- Discussed item d. and approved the introduction and scheduled the item for public hearing on November 13, 2018.
- Received the Sheriff’s Report from Lt. Chris Barsheff.
- Received the Personnel Committee’s Report from Denise Schmuckal. Approved the hiring of Karen Leaver for the Office Coordinator position. Approved appointing Erik Perdonik as the Acting Planning Director.
- Received the written Clerk’s Report from Lanie McManus. She reported that her office has set out over 2,500 absentee ballots to date.
- Received the Supervisor’s Report from Chuck Korn.
- Held a public hearing and approved Amendment No. 1 to Ordinance No. 72 the Minor revision to the Floodplain Ordinance and also approved Resolution 2018-35-T, a resolution
adopting that Ordinance
- Denied Resolution 2018-31-T, the Budget Resolution for Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services Authority.
- Approved the LIAA Contract.
- Approved Resolution 2018-36-T, a resolution amending the Industrial Tax Exemption agreement between the Charter Township of Garfield and RJG, Inc. to add an additional 10 years to the length.
- Discussed 2018 Appointments.
- Discuss items for the 2019 budget for Silver Lake Recreational Area and approve the expenditure of up to $5,000 for native evergreen trees.
- Public Comment – Jennifer Hodges confirmed a site visit to the new water tank for Oct. 23 at 5 p.m.
- Decided to put Consideration of doing a noise study on car washes in Garfield Township on the October 23rd agenda.
The Meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
