Synopsis of Minutes of July 11, 2017
Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, beginning at 6:02 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – None
- Approved Minutes from June 27, 2017, Township Board meeting and Minutes from June 28, 2017 Joint Study Session with the Garfield Township Planning Commission.
- Added Item f. Personnel Committee under Reports, Item c. Miller Creek Fishing Platform under Old Business and Item a. Request for a an Emergency Permit for AECom to New Business and approved the Agenda as amended.
- Removed Item c. MTT Report and approved the Consent Calendar as amended.
- Supervisor Korn answered questions regarding MTT Report and the report was received and filed.
- Received the Construction Report from Jennifer Hodges of Gourdie-Fraser.
- Received the written Sheriff’s report from Lt. Chris Barsheff.
- Received the County Commissioner Cheryl Gore Follet’s report regarding recent actions within the County.
- Received Clerk Lanie McManus’s report in writing, as well as, a verbal report on upcoming meetings regarding the new election equipment.
- Received Supervisor Chuck Korn’s report regarding meetings on the Boardman Lake West trail, Barlow Safe Routes to School application and request for proposals on the large meeting room audio/visual equipment.
- Received the Personnel Committee’s report from Denise Schmuckal and approved the hiring of Keegan Bengal for the Appraiser position
- Held a public hearing on 3525 W. Front Street rezoning from R-3 Multi-Family Residential District to C-O Office Commercial District and approved the Findings of Fact and approved the rezoning as Amendment No. 7 to Ordinance 68 Zoning Map Amendment.
- Adopted Resolution 2017-16-T, a resolution to adopt Zoning Ordinance No. 7 to Ordinance No. 68 rezoning 1.75 acres of land located at 3525 W. Front Street from R-3 Multi-Family Residential to C-O Office Commercial, without restriction.
- Approved the Miller Creek fishing platform bid from Seeds, Inc for a black locust platform no to exceed $15,650.
- Granted a request from AECOM for an Emergency Permit for relief from Section 4.F of Ordinance No. 47 for a period of ten days.
- Public Comment – None
The Meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
